Parker delivers a sermon entitled “The Relation of Jesus to His Age and to the Ages” at the First Church in Boston. His sentiments are subsequently denounced as heretical by Rev. Frothingham, minister of the church, and the longstanding lecture series is discontinued shortly thereafter.
